Kanthal Globar, a business unit within Kanthal Corporation, traces its roots back to The Carborundum Company in Niagara Falls, New York.  The company was established when Kanthal AB of Sweden purchased Carborundum's Electronic Products Division.

Today, Kanthal AB is a member of the Sandvik Group, a $7.4 billion high technology enterprise with 38,000 employees worldwide.
